Arthur Patrick Gilmore studied at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY and at The School of Visual Arts in New York City and for forty years has been an art director for such clients as Time Inc., Newsweek and Reader’s Digest. His work has been recognized by the Art Directors Club of NY, The Type Directors Club and The International Clio Committee.
Arthur has guest lectured at Parson’s School of Design, The School of Visual Arts, Pace and Syracuse Universities. Originally trained as an abstract expressionist, Arthur has studied watercolor for the past six years with watercolorist Joel Popadics at the Ridgewood Art Institute, and has taken workshops with Eli Rosenthal, Mel Stabin, AWS, Tom Lynch, AWS and Steve Rogers, AWS.
His most recent awards include The Cynthia Goodgal Award for Watercolor,The Alan Avery Memorial Award for Watercolor and the RMAA Sanford Award. Arthur has had six one-man shows and is currently Vice President and member of the board of the Ridgewood Art Institute. He is represented by the Village Gallery in Suffern NY, 845.357.0520 where he teaches watercolor on Monday mornings from 10am-1pm and Tuesday evenings from 7-10pm.
